TROUT
Trout have been my passion since childhood. Now, as a medal-winning member of Fly-Fishing Team USA I have been afforded the honor of learning many of the highest-level tactics from some of the world's finest fly anglers. Let me take you to some small streams where we can explore some of the critical concepts I use in my recreational and international-level competitive fishing endeavors. My classes are independent, intensive 6-hour sessions on gorgeous small stream trout water. Classes appropriate for novice through expert anglers.
Each of the following classes include: stream side lunch, rods and reels, leaders, flies, and instruction. All fishing will be catch-and-release.
"Fly-Rodding Head Start" is the class for you if you are interested in learning a few solid skills to get you started in the world of fly-fishing for stream trout. This class will focus on learning a few basic casts. Moving to the water we will explore the stream and the fish and select some simple, yet effective, skills that will put fish in your net under most conditions. All tackle can be provided.
"Versatile Nymphing"is designed to show the serious fly-angler several highly effective nymph presentations proven effective on our Eastern US trout streams as well as on trout and grayling waters across the globe. Expect to learn varieties of techniques befitting your skill level, and learn how to fish nymphs in nearly any type of water. Indicator nymphing through Czech nymphing and points between can be covered! This course can be as specific or general as the customer wishes and time permits. Many of my guests book this class repeatedly, intent on working on new facets each time.
"Small Stream Streamers"can add a new dimension to your arsenal and pure excitement to a day's outing."Small Stream Streamers" will take you places with streamers that you may have never imagined. Designed for the small stream angler, the techniques I will show you are both effective and intense. Trophy Trout applications and/or universal applications can be covered.
"Terrestrial Tactics" is not just for the dry fly enthusiast! This course can focus on fishing dry terrestrials if you wish, or it can take you subsurface for some new "nymph" fishing prowess. Ants, beetles, crickets and other land-borne insects comprise an important food niche to a warm-month trout and learning when, where, and how to show them flies suggestive of terrestrial form and function WILL catch you more trout. However, knowing some basic tricks will up your odds even more. A great way to spend a summer day!
